Sharp Notes Monday: Don’t Stop Believin’

Steve Perry, the lead vocalist for Journey during the band’s most popular years, turns 75 today. To celebrate this milestone in Perry’s life, this week’s Sharp Notes Monday selection is “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

The song not only was one of Journey’s biggest hits; it has become a part of American culture.

The Steve Perry/Jonathan Cain/Neal Schon composition has been used at sports events, in films and television shows, on Broadway and more.

The “Don’t stop believin'” refrain, which comes from a message of encouragement that Cain received from his father, delivers a message that is timeless and universal.

As part of our “Sharp Notes, Sharp Thoughts” music and social media project, we share a song every Monday to start your week.

  1. Great timing on this article as Don’t Stop Believing is now Forbes pick for biggest song ever… Steve Perry in my opinion paid his dues in the 10 years that he was in Journey and gave so much during that time that the love and affection people feel for him from that era is still alive in today. I don’t follow these things so I didn’t know that he had turned 75 but I’m grateful to know how he’s doing and to see that he looks happy and well.
