Sharp Notes Monday: ‘Do You Want to Know a Secret’

Jack Teixeira, an American airman in the 102nd Intelligence Wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, was arrested last week and charged with retaining and transmitting national defense information without authorization and unauthorized removal and retention of classified information.

The classified documents include briefing slides on Ukrainian military positions, Chinese balloons flying over the U.S., assessments of international support for Ukraine and other sensitive topics such as actions that would prompt Russia to use nuclear weapons.

According to published reports, Teixeira posted the materials on a gaming site. Had we wished to pick a song to announce the availability of documents, the Beatles “Do You Want to Know a Secret” would have been an appropriate choice, which is why the song is this week’s Sharp Notes Monday selection.

As part of our “Sharp Notes, Sharp Thoughts” music and social media project, we share a song every Monday to start your week.
