Hal David and Burt Bacharach wrote some of the 20th Century’s most iconic songs, many of which received renewed attention after Bacharach died last week at the age of 94.
“What the World Needs Now Is Love” was especially close to Bacharach, who regularly included the song in his live performances. He and David wrote the song in 1965 while the nation was divided over the war in Vietnam, and it’s simple message continues to resonate today.
As we reflect on Bacharach and his music, “What the World Needs Now Is Love” is our choice for this week’s Sharp Notes Monday selection.
As part of our “Sharp Notes, Sharp Thoughts” music and social media project, we share a song every Monday to start your week.
