A balloon made headlines last week when a large, white high-altitude balloon from China was spotted over Montana.
A political firestorm ensued with calls to shoot down what some suspected was a spy balloon. The U.S. did eventually shoot the balloon down, but not until it had drifted over the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of the Carolinas.
Although the balloon is gone, scattered over seven miles of the Atlantic, the incident will likely continue to be a part of political debates. What better song for a soundtrack for those debates than Jimmy Webb’s “Up. Up and Away,” which became a big hit for the Fifth Dimension.
As part of our “Sharp Notes, Sharp Thoughts” music and social media project, we share a song every Monday to start your week.
