Sharp Notes Monday: ‘Now that the Buffalo’s Gone’

While our Sharp Notes, Sharp Thoughts music and social media project was on hiatus for the summer, we shared a song every Monday to start your week. We’ve decided to make Sharp Notes Monday a permanent feature.

Columbus Day or Indigenous Peoples’ Day?

Opinions vary, but a song by Buffy St. Marie, an Indigenous Canadian-American singer-songwriter, is our choice for Sharp Notes Monday this week.

St. Marie’s “Now That the Buffalo’s Gone” uses the near-extinction of buffalos as a metaphor for the confiscation of Native American lands.
