Songs about money are a likely place to look for a Sharp Notes Monday selection about student loan forgiveness.
We settled on Cyndi Lauper’s “Money Changes Everything” because no matter where one stands on President Joe Biden’s decision to forgive $10,000 in federal student loans for eligible borrowers, money does change — maybe not everything, but at least some things.
For individuals struggling to repay college loan debt, the policy will make it easier to make ends meet and improve their quality of life.
For those who already have paid back college loans, as well as those who never had college loans, the policy means their tax dollars will fund the cost of the loan forgiveness program.
While we sort out the winners and losers, enjoy this classic from Cyndi Lauper.
