While our Sharp Notes, Sharp Thoughts music and social media project is on hiatus for the summer, we’ll be sharing a song every Monday to start your week.
On Independence Day as we celebrate America, Paul Simon’s American Tune is our choice. The song is not the usual patriotic fare that provides a soundtrack for picnics, barbecues and fireworks, but its message about “the age’s most uncertain hour” certainly could describe America in 2022.
American Tune is a song about struggles and survival. But most importantly, it ends with words of reassurance and hope for the future. Enjoy.
