Sharp Notes Monday: ‘Ain’t That a Shame’

By Richard Lee

Is it time for s nee cover version of Ain't That a Shame?

March 15 will mnark the 70th anniversary of Fats Dominino’s recording of “Ain’t That a Shame.”

When Domino and Dave Bartholomew wrote the song, they never would have envisioned the unprecedented scene that took place in the White House lasy week when what was supposed to be the signing of an agreemnent between the U.S, and Ukraine went off the rails.

Over the years, “Ain’t That a Shame” has been covered by a wide range of artists– from Pat Boone to Cheap Trick. Perhaps, it’s time for another cover, but until we get one, you can listen to the original here. It’s our Sharp Notes Monday selection to start the week.

Richard Lee, executive director of the Jandoli Institute, is a former music journalist who often writes about the intersection of music and current events.
