Donald Trump won the presidential election because he ran a better campaign.
The Trump team used President Biden’s unpopularity to their advantage by tying Kamala Harris to all of the factors that made Biden unpopular – the economy, the border and culture issues.
The Harris campaign peaked too early. There was an immediate surge when she became the nominee, and it continued through the convention in August. But to use a baseball analogy, her campaign sat on the lead while the Trump team methodically chipped away at the margin. It’s like being ahead after six innings. You need to hold your lead and get nine more outs to win.
In baseball, it’s wait until next year. For presidential elections, it’s wait until 2028.
