Sharp Notes Monday: ‘I’m on the outside (looking in)’

Caitlin Clark may be one of the nation’s most exciting basketball players, but her skills and talents won’t be on display at the Paris Olympics this summer.

The six-member panel that chooses players for the U.S. Olympic team did not include Clark on the roster.

The decision angered many of Clark’s fans, but others have argued that other players are more deserving of the honor. Clark has only about a month of professional experience under her belt.

Speaking with reporters, Clark said she feels no disappointment about being left off the team.

“I know it’s the most competitive team in the world, and I know it could have gone either way — me being on the team or me not being on the team,” she said “I’m going to be rooting them on to win gold. I was a kid that grew up watching the Olympics, so it will be fun to watch them.”

And if she needs some music to listen to while watching the Olympics, this week’s Sharp Notes Monday selection will fit the bill – “I’m on the outside (looking in)” by Little Anthony and the Imperials.

As part of our “Sharp Notes, Sharp Thoughts” music and social media project, we share a song every Monday to start your week.
